about us
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
Taking an interest in photography in high school, it would be another 15 years before I would rediscover the passion to enter the field.
It would take my first fly in/fly out job in Port Hedland in 2006, that made me take up a hobby to fill my time and take my mind away from the everyday grind of working long hours in the North west. Little did I realise it would reignite the burning passion I had as a teenager to learn the craft.
I bought my first "digital" camera, a Nikon D200, just before flying to Port Hedland and the learning started straight away. Little did I know how much time (and money) was involved with this new digital age, and for a farmer/rigger/wannabe photographer, it wasn't going to be easy.
Many dollars buying mags, many hours reading and many hours playing with the camera, I was starting to get the hang of it, or so I thought!
My heart lay in taking landscapes, as I feel at ease with nature, and just enjoying the solitude of spending time by myself (I had no choice really!!!)
But it was with a life growing up playing sport, that took me down the sport photography path. It got to the stage where the body couldn't keep up with the young blokes, so the next best thing to playing sport, for me was photographing the action. Taking photos of people engaging in something they truly enjoy doing, really gives me a sense of achievement capturing that moment, although sometimes you would wonder if some people really were enjoying themselves.
3 years after buying that first digital camera, I thought it was time to make a break for it. So hopefully you get some enjoyment out of viewing my photos, thank you, Jamie Nicolaou.
